SMS Sign-In & Verification Policy
How Porch Approved uses SMS, what you'll receive, and how you opt in. Required disclosure for our SMS provider (Twilio) and US carriers under the A2P 10DLC framework.
1. Who is sending the messages
Messages are sent by Porch Approved (porchapproved.net), operated by 6th Wave Consulting, LLC (a Texas LLC), via Twilio (our SMS provider). The sender ID will be a US Twilio phone number.
2. What types of messages we send
SMS is used for exactly two purposes:
- Sign-in verification. When you (a community member) sign in to a community that has SMS 2FA enabled, we send a 6-digit one-time code so we can confirm it's you.
- Invite-link verification. When you click an invite link an admin shared (e.g. via WhatsApp), we send a 6-digit one-time code so we can verify your phone before adding you to the community.
We do not send marketing, promotional, recurring, or transactional update messages. There is no recurring cadence — messages are sent only at the moment you actively request a code on our website.
3. Sample messages
The exact message text is generated by Twilio Verify and looks like:
Your Porch Approved verification code is: 482913
For the older direct-SMS path (still used by some community 2FA logins), the message is:
Your Porch Approved code: 482913
Expires in 5 minutes. Don't share.
4. How and where consent is captured
Opt-in is via webform. Consent is collected at the moment a user voluntarily enters their phone number into one of two clearly-labeled forms on our website:
- Sign-in form at
https://porchapproved.net/c/<community-slug>— the form is labeled "🔒 This community uses SMS sign-in. We'll text a 6-digit code to a phone on the member list." The user has already entered the community password and is then explicitly choosing to receive the SMS by entering their phone and clicking "Send code →". - Invite-acceptance form at
https://porchapproved.net/join/<invite-token>— the page reads "Enter your US phone. We'll text you a 6-digit code; once verified, you're in." plus an explicit Terms + Privacy disclosure linked below the form. The user clicks "Send code →" to opt in.
The user clicking the submit button on either form constitutes affirmative opt-in consent for that single verification message.
5. Message frequency
One message per request, sent only when the user actively submits the opt-in form. Typical usage: 1 message per sign-in event (sessions last 30 days, so re-sign-ins are rare).
6. How to opt out
Reply STOP to any message. You can also stop receiving messages by simply not entering your phone number on the sign-in form. Since SMS is per-request and not recurring, there's no subscription to cancel — opting out is the default.
To remove your phone from the community member allowlist entirely, ask your community admin to revoke it via their admin dashboard, or contact us.
7. Help
Reply HELP to any message, or contact us directly through the website.
8. Carrier and rate disclosure
Message and data rates may apply per your wireless carrier's plan. Porch Approved does not charge for SMS messages.
9. Data handling
Phone numbers are stored in our database for the sole purpose of verifying ongoing access to your community. We never sell, share, or use phone numbers for marketing. Numbers can be deleted on request — see the Privacy Policy.
